Microsoft Bad Ads Remain Desperate for Attention

by Jeff Abbott on September 19, 2008

You may remember an earlier posting where I mentioned I thought the new Microsoft ads with Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld were utterly pointless. Well, the debacle continues as the AP reports the ads with the two are being shelved, but other sources report that, no, the Seinfeld ads aren’t cancelled, and even if they are, it was always part of Microsoft’s master plan to shelf Jerry quickly and focus on Windows.
Whatever. These ads have done nothing but show that Microsoft is clueless about how to present themselves to the buying public. I can’t believe with all their money, Microsoft can’t conduct a great ad campaign. . .one that doesn’t involve Bill Gates shaking his bottom at us.
