A couple of bizarre points as I raise my head up from the last dash of the rewrite:
At our local groceries, there is a milk shortage directly attributable to Hurricane Ike. Our H-E-B stores don’t have nearly as much milk on the shelves as they normally do, and there’s a delivery schedule posted as to when more will be coming. I had no idea so many of the dairies serving Austin were on the coast. But we are telling our kids, don’t drink as much milk, there’s a shortage. Never in my life have I dealt with a milk shortage. Other friends in Austin say they’re not seeing this at their groceries, so I’m not sure what to think.
And an idle rumor has nearly emptied gasoline out of Nashville. It takes very little for a panic to spread.
